BROCKVILLE – A car full of guys led Brockville police on a high speed chase out of downtown Brockville early Sunday morning.

Police say one of their officers tried to stop a car “due to…driving actions” around 2:30 a.m. when the driver sped away before crashing a short time later.

Two of the young men in the vehicle ran away while a third stayed behind. The two who ran away were eventually rounded up and all were questioned by officers in order to determine who was driving the vehicle.

A 19-year-old man from North Augusta was arrested and charged with impaired driving. The car was impounded for a week and the teen had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

Police say Breathalyzer readings were nearly two times the legal limit.

The other two guys were released unconditionally.

There were no injuries, police said.
