BROCKVILLE – It’s a reminder that, even though the federal government is taking steps to legalize marijuana, it’s still — in most cases — illegal to light up on the street.
A 24-year-old Brockville woman learned that the hard way on Monday (Jan. 2) after strolling by a Brockville police officer while smoking a joint.
Police happened to be in the area on an unrelated matter when they noticed the woman puffing away.
She was arrested and police also found more marijuana and another drug on her person.
The woman, who was not identified by police, has been charged with drug possession.
