KEMPTVILLE – It turns out reports of a baby stroller being hit on Clothier Street in Kemptville last week were made up.
In concluding their case, Grenville County O.P.P. have also charged a Kemptville woman with public mischief.
Police had been told that a mother, pushing her baby in a stroller, were walking near Benson Automotive on Dec. 6 when a car struck the stroller.
The driver had allegedly backed up and went around the mother and infant, then fled the scene.
But after probing the allegations, O.P.P. have determined there never was a collision. Police didn’t outline a motive for the mother’s fabricated story.
Jennifer Lowe, 24, of Kemptville will appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 1, 2017 to answer to the charge.
