MAITLAND – Provincial police confirmed late Sunday afternoon that at least one person has died in a multi-vehicle crash near Maitland.
Local O.P.P. were on the scene on the section of road between Maitland Road and Blue Church Road as of 2:30 p.m.
Augusta Township firefighters and Leeds-Grenville EMS were also on scene.
Traffic was being rerouted around the scene via Maitland Road and Edward Street at Prescott.
The westbound lanes have reopened but the eastbound lanes remain closed as of 9 p.m. Sunday night.
It’s not known when the section of road will reopen.
Reports indicate that a transport truck was involved and the O.P.P. said “multiple vehicles” were in the crash though it’s not known how many were involved.
An air ambulance was at the scene this afternoon where emergency responders were removing people trapped in a vehicle.
