Back to school across Leeds-Grenville

BROCKVILLE – As you head back to work after the long weekend it’s also back to school for thousands of students after summer break.

Students with the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario will be hitting the books today (Tuesday).

Police officers are also going to be out in force, making sure motorists stop for school buses and are obeying crossing guards.

Failing to stop for a school bus is a $490 fine and six demerit points; for a school crossing guard it’s $180 and four demerit points.

In Gananoque, the police service is reminding drivers that school zones have a 40 kilometer an hour speed limit and fines for speeding are doubled in those areas.

Officers will be out with radar in those school zones throughout the year.

Students with the French boards went back to school last week.
