BROCKVILLE – A local manufacturer of low-voltage electrical cables is expanding its production line and is adding 18 new positions.
Northern Cables on California Avenue has received $820,000 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to add equipment to its Prescott plant to allow aluminum production.
MPP Steven Del Duca was at the plant this morning, on behalf of the province’s economic development minister, to make the funding announcement.
One of the two Brockville locations will also go through an expansion in order to increase production.
The upgrades and expansion, estimated to be around $8.2 million, are expected to be completed by 2020.
The new jobs will be added to the company’s existing workforce of 163.
Northern Cables – which exports up to half the product it makes for the industrial, commercial and mining sectors – has been in Brockville since 1996.
