BROCKVILLE – A witness report of a group of youths – one apparently carrying a handgun – prompted a soft lockdown at a Brockville high school Wednesday morning.
City police say the person saw three young men walking near Tupper Street with one of them with “what appeared to be a small handgun.”
Officers were not able to find the youths and are still trying to identify them through other means.
“The information regarding the firearm has not been confirmed and the youth was not observed threatening or pointing the alleged gun,” the BPS said in a statement.
The report prompted Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) to stage a lower-restrictive lockdown, known as a hold and secure, as a precaution.
