BROCKVILLE – Employees at RONA Brockville have been left with a sinking feeling heading into the holidays that they won’t have a job in the new year.
Lowe’s Companies Inc., the parent company of RONA, announced that it’s closing 34 underperforming stores in Canada.
The RONA at 550 Stewart Boulevard is on the list of nine Ontario locations.
The Lowe’s on Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall, which opened in 2016, is also closing.
The announced closing date for the RONA is Jan. 31, 2020.
Lowe’s Canada Interim President Tony Cioffi says the decision isn’t an easy one but “closing underforming stores is a necessary step in our place to ensure the long-term stability and growth of our Canadian business.”
