CARDINAL – Provincial police have laid a charge in connection to a case of online dating fraud in the area.
Grenville County O.P.P. say they started an investigation two weeks ago (Oct. 18) after a report of fraud “where the accused would collect money from the victim in person.”
Investigators say the victim was out a “substantial amount” of money but didn’t disclose a dollar figure. Given the charge laid, it was at least $5,000.
Nosa Oriakhi, 33, of North York, Ont. was arrested and charged with fraud over $5,000.
The accused was held for a bail hearing in Brockville.
