Empty boat found near Cardinal after river journey

CARDINAL – Provincial police are trying to find the owner of a boat, found floating in the St. Lawrence River near Cardinal.

Grenville County O.P.P. say they started receiving a lot of calls about the boat as it floated down the river around 7 p.m. Monday (April 1).

It was found by helicopters from the Joint Rescue Coordination Center at CFB Trenton around midnight along the riverbank near Marine Station Road, east of Cardinal.

There was no one in it and nobody saw anyone in it, police added.

“There has been no one reported missing, thank goodness, (and) no one was spotted on the boat. We are hoping it’s just a runaway boat,” Const. Ann Collins told Brockville Newswatch.

The aluminum boat has red detailing and a black outboard motor.

If you have any information on its owner, call O.P.P. at 1-888-310-1122.
