KEMPTVILLE – Less than a year into his four year mandate, North Grenville councillor Craig McCormick has resigned.
The municipality said that McCormick tendered his resignation to the clerk, which was effective as of Tuesday (Jan. 22). The retired O.P.P. officer left due to “personal reasons.”
Following the bylaw with respect of filling vacancies on council, the council has appointed Kristin Strackerjan, who was a candidate in the 2018 municipal election.
She would have been the next person to be elected based on the vote tabulation and had received at least 40 per cent of the votes cast.
Strackerjan will be sworn in Feb. 5.
