Body recovered of missing Westport snowmobiler

WESTPORT – Police divers have recovered the body of a missing snowmobiler, missing since Friday night (Nov. 23).

Scott McPherson, 33, was reported missing Saturday afternoon, prompting an extensive search by the O.P.P. Emergency Response Team, the O.P.P. Snowmobile ATV Vessel Enforcement Team (SAVE), Rideau Lakes firefighters and an O.P.P. drone.

McPherson was last seen around 7 p.m. Friday night and was believed to be snowmobiling in the Westport area.

Divers found his body in Sand Lake, near Westport, today (Monday).

The O.P.P. is urging people to stay off the ice because it’s not safe.
