PRESCOTT – The Town of Prescott is the latest Leeds-Grenville municipality to put a total burning ban in place with the extremely dry conditions.
The town announced today (Thursday) that the ban will be in place until further notice.
Next door, Augusta Township already has a burn ban in place.
The Town of Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands have restricted open air burning since Saturday (July 7).
Athens Township had its ban in place on Monday (July 9).
Elizabethtown-Kitley Township and Merrickville-Wolford added the restriction on Tuesday (July 10).
Rideau Lakes Township and Front of Yonge Township both have limited Level One bans in place where small supervised campfires are allowed for cooking and warmth.
Edwardsburgh-Cardinal also issued a partial burn ban yesterday (Wednesday, July 11), with only small recreational campfires allowed, as long as they’re supervised.
North Grenville also has a burn ban in effect.
