PRESCOTT – Grenville County O.P.P. say one person has died in a crash involving three trucks this afternoon (May 3).

Police say one of the trucks – a fuel tanker – has been compromised and that a cleanup crew will be required. The other two are tractor-trailers.

Const. Suzanne Runciman says a driver involved in the collision has died at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.

Highway 401, between Prescott and Maitland, is closed in both directions and detours are in place.

Since the crash involves a death and an environmental hazard, the highway will likely be closed for several hours.

The crash happened around the same area where a chain reaction crash last night sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.
