PRESCOTT – A truck driver was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Wednesday night after a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles.

Grenville County O.P.P. say an eastbound flatbed tractor trailer, carrying steel rolls, lost control in a construction zone and struck a rock cut in the south ditch.

It happened around 6 p.m. between Blue Church Road and Merwin Lane in Augusta Township.

That’s when some of the steel rolls broke lose in the crash, striking another truck, causing that second truck to run into a couple of passenger vehicles.

The driver of the steel roll truck was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

The other truck driver and the drivers in the two other vehicles were not hurt.

At last report (7 p.m. Thursday) one of the two eastbound lanes was still closed but traffic was moving through the area.
