BROCKVILLE – A Toronto-area man is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, after a police chase that ended up closing down the westbound lanes of Highway 401 Thursday night.
Leeds County O.P.P. announced Monday that Brandon Harding-Macdow, 22, is charged with attempted murder, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, flight from police, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He also faces a drug possession charge.
A 17-year-old passenger from Ajax is also facing charges of flight from police and possession of stolen property. His name is not being released because he’s a minor.
Both made a brief court appearance in Brockville on Friday (March 10). Harding-Macdow is being held for a bail hearing Friday (March 17) while the youth was released with a future court date.
O.P.P. officers were involved in a chase Thursday night after trying to stop a vehicle on Highway 401 near Brockville around 5 p.m.
Shots were reportedly fired by police during the multi-jurisdictional pursuit, which ended between Stewart Boulevard and Long Beach Drive after several cruisers were able to box in the vehicle.
There were no reported injuries in the tense situation, which kept a westbound section of the freeway closed until 11 p.m. Thursday night.
