Conservation authorities still warn about water levels

KINGSTON – The two conservation authorities overseeing the watershed in Leeds-Grenville are still warning residents to be careful around bodies of water.

The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, which oversees mostly the western half of LG, has extended a water safety statement until March 15.

While creek levels have been falling for several days, the CA says larger bodies of water on the lakes have been “slower to respond.” With more rain in the forecast, those creek levels could change again.

But the CRCA is quick to point out that widespread flooding is not expected.

The South Nation Conservation Authority issued a similar water safety statement on March 6, also cautioning about rising water levels. It’s statement is in effect until tomorrow (March 10).
