KEMPTVILLE – North Grenville has received “several complaints” about door-to-door salesmen representing safety and home energy companies.
According to the North Grenville Emergency and Protective Services Department, people are contacting homeowners under the pretext of water issues and federal government energy rebates.
In North Grenville, door-to-door salesmen need a municipal licence to sell.
As of today (Jan. 23), the municipality said no licences have been issued.
The municipality says if a salesperson shows up at your door and wants you to sign a contract, you should request their licence.
You should also report any identifying information to the bylaw department at 613-258-9569 extension 206 or provincial police.
In November, the provincial government introduced new legislation to ban unsolicited door-to-door sales of water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners and water filters.
