Two Grenville victims of back tax scam
KEMPTVILLE – Two victims have already fallen for a scam involving people posing as the Canada Revenue Agency, provincial police said Thursday.
According to Grenville County O.P.P., the victims are out $5,600 after scammers requested they pay back taxes through iTunes gift cards because they had been audited.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Center has dealt with 46 complaints so far this year with losses totalling $85,041.
Provincial police say if you are asked to pay for any service or product with an iTunes gift card, don’t do it, it’s a scam.
