FINCH – Ten youth from across the South Nation watershed region have graduated from the conservation authority’s Delta Waterfowl Hunter Apprenticeship Program.
SNC said there were seven boys and three girls in this year’s group – a course that has been running for nine years.
The course teaches young people, aged 12-15, about good hunting practices and values “to get young hunters off on the right foot.”
The youth are taught hunting and firearms safety over three weekends in September with the course culminating in a goose hunt in October.
With the proper licencing and permission, hunting is allowed on the roughly 4,300 square kilometers of South Nation Conversation land.
