KEMPTVILLE – A section of Highway 416 was closed during the morning commute after a tractor-trailer caught fire.
North Grenville firefighters and Grenville County O.P.P. officers were called after the truck, carrying asphalt, burst into flames around 7:30 a.m.
The truck driver from Carp, Ont. was able to beat back the flames with a fire extinguisher until firefighters arrived.
A brake drum had seized causing the tire rim and tire to catch fire, police said.
The highway was reopened about 45 minutes later.
