Cornwall firm will build Kemptville school

KEMPTVILLE – A Cornwall construction firm will be building Kemptville’s new public school.

The Upper Canada District School Board announced that Bourgon Construction is the general contractor to build the Kemptville Public School.

Bourgon was one of six bidders for the $13.3 million contract.

The company is no stranger to building schools, having worked on the Central Public School and the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute buildings.

Bourgon is also building Cornwall’s new elementary school – Bridgewood Public.

Construction of the nearly 44,000 square foot Kemptville Public School on County Road 44, just north of County Road 43, is expected to begin shortly.

It’s replacing the aging school on Reuben Crescent, which was built in the 1950s.

“I’m happy we’re working together with the Municipality of North Grenville to move this project forward, and that it won’t be long before our students are enjoying a spacious, modern facility in which they can be truly engaged,” local trustee Lisa Swan said.

The date for opening has been scheduled for January 8, 2018.
