GANANOQUE – A drug trafficking ring, working between Gananoque and Brockville, has been taken down with the arrests of “several” people.

Gananqoue police, with the help of Brockville police, had been watching known drug traffickers in the area.

Officers saw a drug transaction take place “between several parties” from a vehicle on King Street East early this morning (Feb. 27) and moved in to make the arrests.

They also seized $23,453 in Fentanyl patches, Methamphetamine tablets, powdered Methamphetamine, marijuana and cash.

The occupants of the vehicle have each been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They are being held for a bail hearing.

Gananoque police declined to elaborate on how long the investigation had been taking place, who or how many people were arrested.

Fantanyl is a prescription pain killer, more potent than morphine, that gives illicit drug users a heroin-like high.
