BROCKVILLE – An outbreak of intestinal illness has been declared over at Brockville General Hospital’s 1st Floor East inpatient unit.

The outbreak, which had staff on alert Monday, has also be identified as Norovirus.

“Quick action by BGH staff to implement cleaning and containment protocols, limited the spread of infection and ensured the outbreak did not spread to other units,” said the hospital in a statement.

Norovirus typically lasts two to three days once people are infected.

While the unit wasn’t closed this week, people were strongly cautioned about visiting.
