BROCKVILLE – City police, with the help of Grenville County O.P.P., have been able to make a drug bust in Johnstown.

It stemmed from an earlier case on Oct. 31 where city police stopped a speeding vehicle in the north end of the city and arrested a 51-year-old man from the Montreal area.

Officers found a large quantity of crack cocaine and hash, as well as cash and digital scales.

At that time, the Quebec man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Investigators with the Brockville Police Intelligence Office, with the help of O.P.P., were able to search the suspect’s motel room in Johnstown on Nov. 3.

A larger quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine and illegal cigarettes was seized.

The estimated street value of the drugs is over $6,000.

The 51-year-old appeared in a Brockville bail court Tuesday for a bail hearing.
