BROCKVILLE – A local grocery store has fallen victim to Loblaws’ summer announcement to close a number of its stores across Canada.
Garry Brett told JRfm Thursday the Brockville Shopping Center location will be closing next year, affecting 55 people – eight full-time and 47 part-time employees.
According to the store owner, the parent company felt the struggling location would not be able to turn a profit in the long term.
Loblaws announced in July that 52 locations in Canada would be shuttered over the next year.
Brett’s Valu-Mart will officially close at the end of January.
