Runner hit near Charleston Lake

LANSDOWNE – A woman has been hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning near Charleston Lake.

Leeds and Thousand Islands O.P.P. said the jogger was struck while running on the south shoulder on Woodvale Road sometime during the mid-morning.

She was found on the side of the road by a passing motorist who called for help.

Police don’t have a description of the vehicle, which fled the scene.

The woman, 34, from the Ottawa-area was taken to hospital in Kingston and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe she may have been struck by cargo, a vehicle accessory or the vehicle itself.
