PRESCOTT – Provincial police have made an arrest in connection to a couple weekend robberies of a gas bar and convenience store.

Grenville County O.P.P., aided by Brockville police, arrested a 25-year-old Augusta Township man Wednesday.

He’s charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The man is being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Police said a lone man entered the Mac’s on Park Street on Oct. 3 around 6 p.m. and demanded all the money from the cash register before fleeing the scene with a small amount of cash, cigarettes and food.

Earlier that day, around 8 a.m., the Mr. Gas on King Street was robbed of cash and smokes.

In both cases, no weapon was seen, police said.

There were no injuries, however the clerks were clearly rattled by the robberies.
