BROCKVILLE – Days before the Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing unveils a new exhibit, the attraction has been dealt a blow.

Ivy, a river otter and main attraction at the Aquatarium, died Thursday after complications from dental surgery.

She had been under anesthetic to extract an abscessed tooth but did not wake up after the surgery, despite efforts to resuscitate her.

Ivy had been at the facility since 2013.

She has two offspring – Boldt and Lawrence. There are still two other otters at the Broad Street attraction – Brock and Oliver.

The tourist facility has been ramping up for a big reveal on Friday (Oct. 11) for a new beaver named “Justin Beaver” – a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Canadian pop singer.
