DOMVILLE – A date has been set for an inquest into the death of a worker at an Augusta Township quarry two years ago.

Regional Supervising Coroner Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion announced that the hearing into the death of Clifford “Raymond” Lloyd will be held at the Brockville courthouse at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.

Lloyd, 77, died in July 2017 when the dragline excavator he was operating, tipped over and plunged into a pond at the gravel pit near McCully Road and County Road 18, north of Prescott.

The inquest, which is expected to take three days and hear from 10 witnesses, won’t assign blame but the jury will look for ways to avoid similar accidents in the future.
