BROCKVILLE – A trial is underway in Toronto into alleged physical and emotional abuse suffered by five students at the former Grenville Christian College, east of Brockville.
The plaintiffs from the now-closed college, went to the private boarding school in Maitland between the early 1970s and late 1990s.
In the class-action lawsuit, they claim they were psychologically tormented and also abused by college staff.
The defence denies the allegations. Two men specifically named in the suit – former headmasters J. Alastair Haig and Charles Farnsworth – have died since the legal process was started.
The trial is expected to last about five weeks.
