Gananoque child porn investigation leads to arrest of Brampton man

GANANOQUE – A two month child pornography investigation by several police agencies, including the Gananoque Police Service, has led to the arrest of a Brampton man.

Police arrested 31-year-old Anthony Bowers on Thursday (Aug. 22) in Concord, Ont. and returned him to Gananoque where he was last scheduled for a bail hearing in Brockville.

Based on the online investigation, Gananoque police and the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit were able to identify the accused and the alleged victim, who was 13 years old. Police did not say whether the victim was a boy or a girl.

The investigation also involved police in the York and Peel regions as well, where search warrants were carried out in Brampton.

Bowers is facing eight charges, including four counts of luring, one count of transmitting sexual material to a person until the age of 16 and indecent exposure.
