Unemployment drops in Eastern Ontario in October

BROCKVILLE – The latest job figures from Statistics Canada show unemployment dropped two-tenths of a per cent to 4.7 per cent in October.

It’s the second monthly decline since the Eastern Ontario jobless rate popped above 5 per cent in August.

Much like Eastern Ontario, the Canadian unemployment rate slipped a tenth of percentage point to 5.8 per cent as the economy added 11,200 jobs.

The employment region covers an area from Brockville, east to the Quebec border, and north to the Ottawa area.
