SMITHS FALLS – A 24 year veteran with the Ontario Provincial Police is facing a charge in relation to an alleged domestic dispute where a firearm was pulled.
Officers were called to a home on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 and later arrested a man and charged him with pointing a firearm.
The identity of the accused was not released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The location of the domestic was also not released, though the O.P.P. officer will be appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville, which suggests it happened somewhere in Leeds-Grenville. The Brockville court covers the Leeds-Grenville jurisdiction and court cases are covered by the court where the alleged offence took place.
The officer, who is part of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, has been suspended with pay, which is normal protocol under the Ontario Police Services Act.
A separate investigation by the O.P.P. Police Services Board is underway.
