BROCKVILLE – The local chamber of commerce will give a posthumous award to Gord Brown next week.

The Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Gord Brown Memoriam will receive the President’s Award at its awards gala on Nov. 8 at the Brockville Memorial Center.

The chamber’s optional award, which has only been given out five times since 2009, recognizes outstanding achievements of businesses, organizations and individuals who make a difference in the community.

Throughout his career, Brown was involved in sports, local politics, business, the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce and the St. Lawrence Parks Commission.

Brown, 57, died earlier this year from a heart attack while working on Parliament Hill.
