BROCKVILLE – An aggressive business developer with a vision for downtown Brockville is getting the honour of being named Business Person of the Year for 2018.

Rob Thompson is described by the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce as a visionary who has helped “ignite the spark that creates a wildfire of rebirth in the downtown.”

Since 2005, Thompson has started five businesses and also created a half dozen jobs with that many more expected in the future. Those developments are: Centre Street Subdivision Development, Millwood Condos, the Keystorm building, 58 King Stret and 48 King Street.

The chamber estimates the downtown investment is about $17 million.

“Rob’s tenacity has brought him to where he is today. He has shown a stable yet vibrant presence in the community for the last 13 years,” the chamber said.

Thompson will be presented with the award Nov. 8 during the chamber awards gala at the Brockville Memorial Center.
