BROCKVILLE – Jeff Severson is taking his name out of the race for Brockville City Council though you will still see his name on the ballot.
Severson announced his withdrawal today (Monday) due to a “conflict of interest.”
The 40-year-old didn’t elaborate on what that conflict was but told the Recorder & Times that it was “work related.”
Severson has been heavily involved as a volunteer with the Brockville Winter Classic and is listed as a financial advisor with The Co-operators (Brent Scott Insurance Services Inc.).
His withdrawal leaves 20 electable people on the ballot though, due to elections law, the city can’t remove his name.
Severson believes voters will still have a great choice because there are “many new faces that share the same ideals and enthusiasm that I have,” his Facebook post reads.
He still plans to volunteer in the community.
