BROCKVILLE – Gananoque police say a high speed chase along County Road 2, first involving their Brockville counterparts, reached speeds higher than 160 kilometers an hour early Sunday morning.

Brockville officers had tried to stop the vehicle around 1:45 a.m. when the driver bolted.

The Brockville Police Service called off the chase in the interest of public safety but radioed ahead to Gananoque and the O.P.P.

The suspect was found by the Gananoque Police Service and Leeds County O.P.P. about a half hour later, coming into Gananoque.

When police stopped him there, he tried to run away but police officers caught up to him.

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with theft, drug possession, flight from police, dangerous driving, two counts of driving while disqualified and failing to comply with a probation order.

A 28-year-old passenger from Kingston was also charged with breaking three probation and court orders.

No names were released.
