BROCKVILLE – Firefighters were able to contain a small fire at a former trucking company property on North Augusta Road Friday afternoon.
The fire was fueled by a half dozen wooden pallets at the former McNeil Transport building near the intersection of Pearl Street and Keefer Street.
“The fire was contained to the old shipping bay area…loading dock area. Some hardwood pallets were involved,” Chief Fire Prevention Officer Greg Healy told Brockville Newswatch.
“It did extend into the roof structure a little bit. But we did have a good, quick knockdown and prevented it from getting further into the roof structure,” Healy added.
He said, at this point, the cause of the fire will remain undetermined.
Brockville police did take forensic samples at the scene, which will be analyzed, Healy added.
The transport building had no services, such as gas or hydro.
