KEMPTVILLE – Three men are facing charges in connection to a couple of 2016 break-ins between Merrickville and Kemptville.

The homes were broken into in early December 2016 on River Road west of Kemptville and on Heritage Drive, northeast of Merrickville, across the Rideau River in Montague Township.

The O.P.P. East Region Intelligence Unit and O.P.P. Community Street Crime Unit have charged a 21-year-old Ottawa man with trafficking in firearms.

Two other men – a 21-year-old from North York, Ont. and a 21-year-old from Ottawa – are facing break and enter, possession and trafficking in firearms charges.

Grenville County O.P.P. Const. Cathy Lindsey told Brockville Newswatch that the guns were all restricted firearms. Restricted firearms include handguns.

Lindsey could not say whether the guns had been returned to their owners or how many had been stolen.
