Hospital workers have tentative agreement

TORONTO – Hospital workers across Ontario – including those in Brockville and Kemptville – have a tentative agreement.

The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU/CUPE) announced today (April 23) the result of “intense weekend bargaining” for the province’s 75,000 hospital workers.

CUPE workers held “Together For Respect” noon-hour rallies outside several hospitals last week.

The union consortium says the contract includes new language on workplace violence, as well as wage increases and no concessions.

The workers haven’t had a contract since September.

The bargaining session saw the three unions – CUPE, SEIU Healthcare and Unifor – form an alliance.

Voting on the contract will happen in the coming weeks.
