BROCKVILLE – After more than three decades on the job, Brockville Police Service Detective Paul Smith is retiring.

Smith, who has been with the force since 1985, has spent the last 16 years as a forensic identification officer.

He has worked on three murder investigation teams and has also been part of several coroner’s inquest investigative teams.

“Known for his quick wit and great sense of humour, Paul could always be counted on to lighten the mood around the office with a few laughs during tough investigations,” the police service said in a news release Friday.

Today (Friday) is his last day.
