Peewee Angels take second place at Oakville tournament

OAKVILLE, Ont. – Two teams from the Brockville Girls Hockey Association represented the city during a tournament in Oakville.

The Atom house team went undefeated in the round robin by scores of 7-3, 4-1 and 2-1 and won their semifinal 1-0 against the Flamborough Falcons to advance to the semifinal during the games played the Feb. 24-25 weekend.

However, the Atom team came up short, losing 2-0 to one of the host teams.

The Peewee house team also plowed through their round robin 2-1, 1-0 and 2-1 and then had a shootout against the Leaside Wildcats in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal against the Oakville Hornets, Emma McEwen and Katy Biemond had winning goals for the team.

Down a player with an injury in the final, the Peewee Angels fought hard against the Sudbury Lady Wolves, but fell in overtime to take second place.
