Chief of staff named for BGH

BROCKVILLE – Dr. Rob Malone has been appointed the new chief of staff for the Brockville General Hospital.

Malone will oversee the 11 medical departments at the Brockville hospital and his position reports to the board of directors.

The doctor has a 17 year history with the hospital as chief of psychiatry and a member of the Medical Advisory Committee.

“Dr. Malone is a highly regarded by fellow staff and physicians, and is an active member of the BGH community. In 2014, he was the keynote speaker at the Hospital’s Annual General Meeting and in 2013 he was nominated by BGH staff for the Workplace Happiness Action Team’s Team Member of the Year award,” the hospital said in a statement.

Malone takes over for the retiring Dr. David Goldstein, who announced in September he was leaving.

He’s “excited and energized” about the new job.

Both Malone and Goldstein will be working together in the coming weeks to make sure there’s a smooth transition.

Malone’s first official day is Nov. 6.
