GANANOQUE – A transport truck driver has been charged with careless driving after ending up going the wrong way on Highway 401.
Provincial police were called just before 1 a.m. today (Thursday) for reports of a truck driving east in the westbound lanes near Gananoque.
When they found the truck, it was parked on the side of the road, where the driver told authorities he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
A 25-year-old man from Brampton, Ont. has been given a careless driving ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.
There were no injuries, police said.
This is the second time this month a driver has ended up going the wrong way on Highway 401 in Leeds County.
A Woodstock man was charged after he said he followed his GPS, resulting in driving the wrong way on the freeway near Mallorytown.
