Driver killed in fiery crash in South Dundas

STAMPVILLE – One person has been killed after a fiery collision overnight on a county road in South Dundas, northeast of Iroquois.

“Shortly after midnight (Thursday), police received a 911 call to a motor vehicle that hit a tree and was engulfed in flames on County Road 16 (Brinston Road) at Jackson Road,” O.P.P. Const. Cathy Lindsey told Cornwall Newswatch.

Lindsey said there has been no positive identification of the lone occupant of the Mazda 6 midsize sedan.

The Iroquois station of South Dundas Fire and Emergency Services was on scene to put out the fire, she said.

A police investigation is ongoing.

The road was closed between Stampville Road and Rusty Road around 1:30 a.m. Thursday following the collision.

It reopened around 10:20 a.m.
