BROCKVILLE – Five Brockville-area businesses have jumped on board a campaign to reduce cases of pets being left in vehicles during the summer heat.

Carefree Pools on North Augusta Road, Custom Decor Floor and Home on Highway 29, Four-O-One Electric Ltd. on Cowan Avenue, as well as Uniquely Creative and Jewel Box on King Street West are part of the No Hot Pets campaign.

Also part of the program are two businesses in Prescott, two in Gananoque, one in Lyndhurst and one in Smiths Falls.

Each pet-friendly business location also has a sign letting people know pets are welcome.

The Ontario SPCA’s No Hot Pets campaign aims to teach people the dangers of leaving animals unattended in vehicles.

The humane society warns that parked cars, even in the shade with the windows down, can reach a deadly temperature inside.
