BROCKVILLE – The city’s fireworks extravaganza has been pushed back a day due to the weather.
The Canada Day display will now take place on Sunday at 10 p.m. instead of Saturday, the City of Brockville announced Friday.
The fireworks crew needs an eight hour setup window on the metal barge and, with the risk of lightning, it’s not possible Saturday night.
City spokesman Lesley White says they will be coordinating with the Hydroplane entertainment – Honeymoon Suite – and “I’m hoping they will stop playing and sing O Canada prior to the fireworks which I will coordinate.”
The fireworks can be viewed from Hardy Park and Centeen Park as the hydroplane boats are expected to be gone by then.
For those who have bought tickets for the 1000 Islands Regatta Honeymoon Suite concert, Blockhouse Island will be available.
