BROCKVILLE – A rather subdued day of bail court was punctuated by a flurry of action as a person in custody tried to get away.

Brockville police say a woman was in the prisoner’s box and turned to speak with someone in the gallery.

Moments later, she was making a break for the courtroom door, but was quickly apprehended by police special constables before she could get outside.

The 27-year-old Brockville woman will likely face an additional charge of escaping lawful custody.

She was originally charged with theft, accused of strolling out of The Score Thrift stores at the Brockville Shopping Center this week, sporting a pair of high heels.
