BROCKVILLE – The local economy has been dealt a significant blow as Procter & Gamble has announced it will shutter its city operations by 2021.
The company made the announcement to workers today as it plants to relocate its operations to West Virginia.
There are roughly 480 employees affected at 1475 California Avenue plant, which was handling production of Bounce and Swiffer products.
The news is a major shift from the company’s stance a year ago when it planned to move some of its production south of the border.
Procter & Gamble said it will be working with its affected employees over the next three to four years on personal transition plans to help them find new work.
